A new plaque has been put up in July to the side of The Scala, formerly known as the Kings Cross Cinema, at Kings Cross Bridge remembering a gig 50 years ago, by the Jewish-American singer, musician songwriter and poet Lou Reed (1942-2013) and the US-singer, musician songwriter and actor Iggy Pop and his rock band The Stooges, who played their first UK-shows at the Scala at Kings Cross, WC1X, between the 14th of July and 15th of July 1972. The gigs happened in connection with David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust Tour. UK-Music Scene photographer Mick Rock (1948-2021) is also remembered. The photos Rock took at the Scala appeared on the LP covers Transformer and Raw Power. Ham and High have more of the story here.
