Sign up to Kings Cross Forum

This is letter from the Kings Cross Forum : http://kingscrossneighbourhoodforum.com/2013/03/05/neighbourhood-forum-danger/

The changes do not affect Acton and Swinton Street, except you should sign up with the Kings Cross Neighbourhood Forum if you have not already and encourage others do do so!

Dear KX Fans, members, signatories and supporters (you should be members by now!!)

PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL INCLUDING We CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU…The Impact
The political pressure is on to reduce the proposed boundaries of The Neighbourhood Forum FOR KINGS CROSS…
We have tentatively taken the advice of Islington Council not to include the ‘Cally Team’ area north of the canal formerly our northeastern area up to York Way, and also a pocket south of Pentonville Road – formerly the southeastern corner of our reach, up to Penton Rise and Kings Cross Road, and down to Percy Circus.
A decision and clarification has yet to be included in the amended application for the area to the north of Pentonville Road – the King’s Cross Ten Estates area – from the lower Caledonian Road to Penton/Rodney and Muriel Streets and to the south of the canal.

English: Grays Inn Road, King's Cross Traffic ...

LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT TO BE PART OF THE KX NEIGHBOURHOOD – WHERE DO YOU LIVE OR WORK? The intention of a Neighbourhood Forum under the Localism Act is simply to be legalised where no Parish Council exists and thereby become the vehicle for the Neighbourhood Plan – an important new opportunity for local folk, those who reside or draw business in that area, to bring local, site specific ideals and innovation together in planning. There is no limit to its size laid down in the Localism Act. (see Neighbourhood Planning for more info)Democracy and effectiveness is surely lost if we are ‘diminished’ from an EXTRAORDINARY AREA LIKE KINGS CROSS, in order to suit Local Authority manageable aims – or are we just being too cynical???
I want to be sure we are representing everyone and are including the broad range of citizens that dwell and work in what has been outlined as ‘Our KX’ – I do not want to feel any dis-service has been made by the steering team* towards the locals in our voluntary roles as stewards of this project for the wider community. YOU NEED TO LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!GET IN TOUCH NOW!
On Facebook/Twitter/Email via this website or personally to me in reply/Make comment below/Attend the NEXT MEETING on Thurs March 7th…

We CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU…

The Impact
Without a committee and pan-KX representatives at this critical stage the project may, sadly, be over… If you can help in even the smallest way….come along on Thursday – it looks like we will be having a discussion around various solutions. If you cannot make it – let me know and, as ever, I will take your views forward. Do your bit in spreading the word and urging neighbours, colleagues, community group members and the like, to join. Put info on your own website with a link to this important community facility.

with such a large and vibrant community in King’s Cross, there should be 100′s vying to become Chair of such an important project, or desperate to take the honour of Secretary. Remember Planning affects everyone’s lives everyday! In an ideal situation, we would have a huge publicity campaign going, but it seems until we have legalised status many are laid-back in approach when they should help get the ball rolling. One day you might need to draw issues to your neighbourhood forum & plan and it simply won’t be there unless you support it at this crucial stage! Zannthie, Chair (for one more month – come on King’s Cross, its over to you)

*(we are only the ‘steering team’ because we came together with a common interest and commitment – anyone welcome! See About Us)
